Aromatherapy

Essential oils have different qualities and are extracted from many sources such as flowers, leaves, roots, trees and fruit.  The oils are used in perfumes, cosmetic preparations, food and cleaning products.  Their properties range from antibiotic, antispetic, anti-viral, anti-fungal and cell-rejuvenating

Caution!

Some oils may be harmful under certain circumstances, you should always consult your supplier or therapist before blending oils for personal use.

Ways to use essential oils

Burns and scalds - a few drops of lavender will heal a burn or scald and leave no scarring

Add to massage oil - add to a carrier oil and use to massage with

Steam inhalation - use oils such as rosemary, eucalyptus and basil for colds and sinus problems

Cream and lotions - customise a face cream or body lotion to suit your skin type

Bath - run the bath and add the essential oils

Candles - light a candle and wait until the wax melts then add 1 or 2 drops of essential oil.  Essential oils are flammable so be careful not to add more than 2 drops and do not allow to spill on the wick

Room sprays - fill a plant sprayer with warm water and add a few drops of essential oils.  This can used as a room freshener
